A young woman from the Central Coast in Australia had an unusual desire. She wanted to look like a dragon. Although everyone told 23-year-old Amber Luke that her dream was impossible, she decided to prove people wrong. So she saved up all her money and invested it into her body to make the impossible transformation from human to mythological reptile – now she terrifies everyone wherever she goes.

Over the last few years, Amber Luke spent $10,000 on body modifications including tattoos, piercings, and other procedures like a split tongue and more. Much more. Perhaps her most shocking modification is her blue eyes. She had her eyeballs permanently dyed to look like a reptile from medieval tales.

Because of her tongue and her fiercely blue eyes, she named herself after the Yugioh card “Blue Eyes White Dragon.” And in an interview with Daily Mail, Amber Luke described every one of her body modification purchases including some fifty tattoos that she started working on seven years ago when she was just sixteen.

Amber Luke compares her passion for body modification to opioid addiction.

Besides her anime nickname, Amber also identifies as a “body positive tattoo enthusiast.” That means she believes people should be proud of what they look like.

“As soon as I turned 16, I was inspired by those around me to get tattooed. I craved to know what the feeling was like,” she said in her interview with Daily Mail. “I developed an addiction at sixteen years of age. By the time I hit eighteen, I already had three tattoos. And when I turned eighteen, I decided to get my first big piece.”

Amber “Blue Eyes White Dragon” Luke understands that she put her life at risk getting some of her body modifications. Her blue eyes left her temporarily blind. That’s because she asked a tattoo artist to ink electric blue right into the whites of her eyes.

“The procedure for getting my eyes done was only forty minutes. It was very intense and very painful. My eyes got held open while a syringe was injected into my eye four times per eye. I was blind for three weeks.”

Amber first wanted her eyes black, but the body modification artist recommended blue because it would compliment her natural irises and “make them pop.”

Although her eyes are her most striking feature, her split tongue also turns heads while she’s out in public.

“My tongue split was very uncomfortable as well. I wasn’t able to speak or eat for a week afterward.”

Amber also went to a cosmetic surgeon to change her ears and give them a more reptilian point.

“My ears were a very simple procedure. A silicone implant was inserted into the tips of my ears to shape them.”

It is possible that Amber has started regretting her body modifications. In May 2018, she shared a picture of herself as a teenager before she started changing the way she looked. She titles the Instagram image simply “pre-get up.”

Or perhaps she still loves the changes.

“I absolutely hated the way I used to look. I was boring.”
